About ADEA

The Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) is the national peak body representing health care professionals who specialise in diabetes education, management and care, and also the regulatory body for Credentialed Diabetes Educators (CDEs) Australia-wide. They have a small team of permanent staff and rely on the ongoing support of volunteers to continue transforming lives through quality diabetes education and care.

Committed to professionalism and personalised support, they are strong advocates for best practice, person-centred diabetes education and care, supporting and advocating for those affected by diabetes, their carers, and their families. A flexible and growing organisation, they have a genuine focus on innovation and are committed to incorporating the latest technologies and creative ideas, always encouraging their staff to look towards the future and welcoming new suggestions or opportunities to improve.

About the Opportunity

ADEA now has a newly created opportunity for a Member Services Supervisor to join their team on a part-time basis (0.6 - 0.8 FTE). Whilst ideally based at their office in Canberra, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

Reporting to the Manager, Professional Services and Education, you will be responsible for overseeing the services and support provided to ADEA members.

More specifically, you will adopt a proactive approach to engaging, retaining and growing the membership base.

Your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Supervising and developing the Member Services Officer and working closely with other members of the Professional Services and Education Team;
  • Developing membership recruitment and retention strategies and working with other business areas to implement them;
  • Overseeing the creation of member promotional and information materials;
  • Preparing monthly reports for the Manager, Professional Services and Education, including progress against member recruitment and retention strategies and trends.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will ideally have previous customer service and strategic planning experience. While not essential, any work undertaken in a membership-based or NFP organisation will be highly desirable.

As a proactive, community-facing role, you will be comfortable developing strategies to increase member engagement and grow the pre-existing membership base, involving where applicable, interaction with the general public, professional institutions and other relevant agencies/bodies.

High attention to detail is also crucial as you will be responsible for developing relevant reports and overseeing the membership database. In this light, strong report writing and written communication skills will go a long way to ensuring your success.

Ideally, ADEA is looking for an ideas person, someone who is comfortable thinking laterally and implementing new processes, especially when there is no precedent to be followed.

About the Benefits

This is a rewarding opportunity to support ADEA membership growth and retention, in a highly-varied, strategic position where you can witness the tangible results of your work.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with an attractive salary circa $78,000 - $86,000 (commensurate with skills and experience), plus super and PBI salary sacrificing options.

Working flexible part-time hours, with ADEA open to negotiating the days and times, the association is committed to ensuring their staff enjoy a positive workplace culture, and also offers additional paid leave over the Christmas and New Year period.

You will also have access to ongoing training and professional development, including mentoring opportunities and support to grow your skills in areas that interest you.
